Many players were concerned about how Crimson Desert would perform on the standard PlayStation 5. However, final tests indicate that the developers have truly prioritized optimization.
The game launched recently, and users have started sharing their initial experiences. Feedback varies, as the developers opted for a complex and lengthy introductory phase with numerous intertwined systems, which didn’t appeal to everyone.
Despite some mixed early impressions on gameplay mechanics, PS5 owners have no need to worry about performance. According to testing data, Crimson Desert runs stably, even on the base version of the console.
An analysis conducted by ElAnalistaDeBits revealed three distinct graphics modes: Quality, Balanced, and Performance. In Quality mode, improvements are visible in lighting, detail, textures, vegetation, and water, enhancing the overall visual presentation.
The most significant differences between consoles are evident in Performance mode. The base PS5 makes more substantial graphical adjustments than the PS5 Pro, particularly in fine details. Ray tracing is considerably reduced to help maintain consistent frame rates.
Interestingly, the more powerful console doesn’t always hold a complete advantage. The PSSR technology on the PS5 Pro sometimes results in a somewhat muted image, which can appear less natural compared to the visuals on a standard PS5.
Overall, performance is robust: the base PS5 achieves up to approximately 80 FPS in Performance mode, while the PS5 Pro reaches around 90–100 FPS. This clearly points to excellent engine optimization.
An analysis for the Xbox Series X|S versions is also being prepared, and preliminary reports suggest that the game performs stably on those platforms as well.
