Valve continues to gradually enhance its Steam service. The company recently concluded testing for a new feature and rolled out a full client update, bringing significant improvements to the platform.
A key new addition allows Steam users to attach detailed information about their PC hardware to game reviews. This includes specifying the operating system, processor model, graphics card, amount of RAM, and VRAM. This feature aims to provide more context for game reviews, helping other users understand performance expectations based on different system configurations.
Furthermore, Steam has introduced an option for users to anonymously share their in-game frame rate data with Valve. This data collection initiative is designed to help the company gain insights into “game compatibility and improve Steam” as a whole, potentially leading to better optimization and user experience across various titles.
Currently, the frame rate data collection feature is in its beta testing phase and is primarily focused on devices running SteamOS, suggesting a particular interest in enhancing the experience for Steam Deck users and other SteamOS-powered systems.
