Nine years after its initial announcement, the highly anticipated live-action film adaptation of the “Invincible” comics is still actively in development.
Robert Kirkman, the creator of the “Invincible” universe, commented on the current status of the film project, confirming its ongoing development. In a recent interview, he noted that while primary resources are currently focused on the successful animated series, “there are some movements behind the scenes, but nothing new can be revealed yet.”
The film was first announced back in 2017. At that time, it was revealed that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg had joined the project to serve as writers, directors, and producers. Robert Kirkman is also directly involved in the production and had previously expressed his surprise if the live-action adaptation were ultimately not to happen.
As of now, the studio has not announced any cast members or specific production timelines. Despite active discussions of fan casting options online, no official decisions have been made. Previously, “The Marvels” director Nia DaCosta expressed interest in directing an “Invincible” adaptation, but there is no confirmed information regarding her involvement or negotiations on that front either.
Meanwhile, fans can enjoy the current fourth season of the “Invincible” animated series on Prime Video. The first three episodes were released on March 18, with the fourth becoming available on March 25.
