The recent update for Resident Evil Requiem has surprisingly led to a graphical downgrade on the PS5 Pro. Following patch 1.11, Capcom disabled ray tracing in the first district of Raccoon City, a change quickly noticed by players and content creators.
While the game still maintains a visual edge over standard consoles, this alteration significantly impacts global illumination. Ray tracing was responsible for realistic reflections and enhancing the overall atmosphere of scenes. Although developers intended the patch to reduce noise and artifacts, certain shots, particularly those with diffuse lighting on Leon and in open-world areas, now appear less impressive. This represents a compromise: a cleaner image, but at the cost of some of its “wow factor.”
Capcom appears to have sacrificed certain visual effects in pursuit of stability. The issue is currently confined to the first district, suggesting that community feedback might influence future updates.
