Microsoft and AMD have officially confirmed a significant collaboration on Xbox Project Helix, the next-generation console. This new device will feature RDNA5 architecture and integrate AMD’s advanced FSR Diamond technology.
FSR Diamond will form the core of a groundbreaking new neural rendering system, combining ML-based upscaling, AI frame generation, and next-generation ray/path tracing capabilities. Deep integration with the Xbox GDK will allow developers to easily utilize these innovative rendering methods across all games on the platform.
Jack Huynh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Computing and Graphics at AMD, highlighted the importance of this partnership for the future of the gaming industry. He stated that Project Helix is designed to deliver next-generation performance, revolutionary graphics, and compatibility with the existing Xbox game library. FSR Diamond, developed specifically for Project Helix and deeply integrated with the Xbox GDK, encompasses advanced neural rendering, machine learning-based scaling, multi-frame generation using AI, and next-gen ray/path tracing.
This more than 20-year partnership between Microsoft and AMD marks a new phase in the evolution of graphics technology for both consoles and PCs.
