Subnautica 2 is on track for an Early Access release as early as May, following a significant legal victory for its developers, Unknown Worlds Entertainment, against publisher Krafton. The highly anticipated game has reportedly passed Krafton’s internal review and is now considered ready for launch.
This expedited timeline comes after a recent court decision mandated the reinstatement of Unknown Worlds Entertainment’s previously dismissed CEO. With the studio’s leadership restored and legal disputes seemingly resolved, new information regarding the game’s imminent release has emerged.
The journey to launch has been fraught with challenges. Subnautica 2 was originally slated for a 2025 release, but the project experienced delays after key executives at Unknown Worlds were terminated. While Krafton initially attributed these dismissals to concerns over the game’s development status, the developers contended that the publisher’s actions were motivated by a desire to avoid paying performance bonuses.
