Helldivers 2 PC Client Shrinks Sixfold: Developers Transition Players to Compact Version

The PC version of Helldivers 2 now occupies significantly less storage space on your drive.

Recently, the developers of Helldivers 2 discontinued support for the old, larger PC client. As a result, all players are now utilizing a streamlined, more compact version of the game.

Instead of consuming 140-150 GB, Helldivers 2 now takes up just over 20 GB of storage. Previously, the substantial file size was attributed to the need to support HDDs, where data was duplicated to accelerate loading times on such drives.

However, Arrowhead Game Studios conducted extensive tests and successfully developed a solution to optimize Helldivers 2’s file size. Players with HDD storage can still enjoy the game, but it now requires significantly less space on their hard drives.
