Rockstar Games Stops Digital Sales in Brazil via Official Launcher Due to New Child Protection Legislation

The recent enactment of new child protection legislation in Brazil has led to significant changes for Rockstar Games. Fans of Grand Theft Auto and other Rockstar titles have noted that the studio’s digital games are no longer available for purchase through its own launcher and store for users in Brazil.

Rockstar Games clarified the situation, explaining that these restrictions are a direct consequence of the new “Brazilian Digital Statute of Child and Adolescent Rights” (Digital ECA). According to the developers, following the implementation of this statute, players in Brazil can no longer acquire digital versions of Rockstar games via the Rockstar Games Store or the Rockstar Games Launcher.

It’s important to note that all previously purchased games remain fully accessible to their owners. Furthermore, Rockstar games can still be bought through other major digital storefronts, including the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store.

These changes do not impact the ability to make in-game purchases or acquire in-game currency, such as Shark Cards in GTA Online, which remain available to Brazilian players.
