Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem has confidently seized the leading position in US video game sales for February 2026, according to the latest monthly report from analytics firm Circana. Matt Piscatella, Circana’s Senior Director and an industry expert, highlighted the impressive launch performance of the title.
The new game is already being eyed as a strong contender for one of the best-selling titles of 2026. Its initial sales soared 60% higher than those of Resident Evil Village, with total copies sold exceeding 6 million to date. While experts acknowledge the game’s strong start, they suggest that maintaining an absolute lead throughout the entire year might be challenging, though a spot in the top 20 best-selling games is almost certainly secured.
Despite the success of Resident Evil Requiem, overall consumer spending on video games in the US for February 2026 remained consistent with the previous year’s figures. The market’s stability was significantly bolstered by substantial growth in the subscription services segment. Platforms such as Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus, and Nintendo Switch Online witnessed a 27% increase in consumer spending compared to February 2025. This rise, partly attributed to price adjustments, effectively compensated for any potential downturn in overall market performance.
