Owners of the original Nintendo Switch often experienced a cluttered eShop, where quality titles could easily get lost amidst a flood of less impressive games. Learning from this, Nintendo appears to be implementing a much stricter game selection policy for its upcoming console, the Nintendo Switch 2.
The company’s goal is to prevent the digital storefront from becoming a “dumping ground” for digital “junk,” focusing instead on careful curation rather than a mass influx of cheap or AI-generated projects.
This strategy was confirmed by Dave Oshry, CEO of New Blood Interactive. He revealed that their popular game, Dusk, runs impressively on the new Switch 2 hardware at 120 frames per second, yet the studio is still undergoing the approval process. Oshry noted that Nintendo has become exceptionally selective in certifying releases.

Despite the tightened requirements, relations with developers remain positive. Oshry emphasized that Nintendo actively supports partnerships, fostering hope for a well-organized and high-quality digital store for the Nintendo Switch 2.
