Microsoft is expanding its multiplatform strategy, with the latest example being Kiln, a new project from Double Fine Productions, set to debut on PlayStation 5 this April.
Originally announced in January, this distinctive online game now has a confirmed release date: April 23.
Kiln is an innovative team-based online brawler where players craft their fighters from clay on a pottery wheel. The shape and form of each character directly influence their statistics and abilities. In 4v4 matches, teams compete to collect water and strategically “extinguish” the opponent’s furnace, all while engaging in chaotic battles to eliminate enemy units.
The gameplay is a creative blend of imaginative character design and dynamic action. Players can sculpt various types of “brawlers,” from swift and agile to robust and durable, each offering unique abilities. Additional decorative elements further customize their appearance.
Kiln will be released simultaneously across Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 5, and cloud gaming services. It will also be accessible through the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
An open beta will precede the full launch, running from April 9 to April 11, giving players a chance to experience the game firsthand.
