Marvel Rivals to Introduce Compensation for Players Affected by Unfair Play

Developers of Marvel Rivals are actively combating the issue of sabotage in ranked matches. NetEase Games has announced the implementation of a new compensation system for players who fall victim to unfair conduct, alongside stricter penalties for those who intentionally lose games.

This new feature is named the “Victim Compensation Protocol.” In an official statement, it was noted that the protocol aims to reimburse users who find themselves outnumbered due to their teammates abandoning a match.

A significant challenge players face is what’s referred to as “incentivized throwing” or “stimulated match-leaving.” This practice involves certain participants receiving rewards for deliberately exiting games at critical junctures, thereby leaving their team at a disadvantage. Such actions result in unfair defeats and the loss of rating points for legitimate players.

NetEase Games emphasized that it has carefully considered community feedback and pledges not only to curb unfair practices but also to actively compensate for the damage incurred. Details regarding the form of compensation—whether it be rating point refunds, in-game currency, or other rewards—will be revealed with the release of the full update.
