Access to the new location, the Cryo Archive, is restricted to players who have reached level 25.
Bungie has officially rolled out Update 1.0.5 for its extraction shooter, Marathon. This update became available following a period of scheduled maintenance.
The primary new features in this patch include a revamped economic interaction system and an expanded loot system. Players will also discover three new implant perks, which are exclusively obtainable on the new Cryo Archive map:
- Covert Recovery – Speeds up self-recovery and the use of healing while within smoke.
- Freeloader – Grants ability energy for knife kills.
- Panic Response – Temporarily boosts mobility when healing at low health.
Additionally, three new weapon modifiers have been introduced:
- Punishment – Provides increased damage against specific enemy types.
- Testament – Offers a bonus to range and improved aim assist.
- Hurricane – Delivers enhanced stability while airborne.
The developers have also implemented several notable gameplay adjustments. Players can now activate extraction beacons even when in a downed state. Camera shake from melee attacks has been reduced, and the post-run observation time has been extended to 120 seconds. Furthermore, issues related to ability synchronization and incorrect finisher mechanics have been resolved.
Significant adjustments have been made to the Runners themselves. For instance:
- The Assassin character received a visual fix for their smoke screen ability.
- The Thief’s drone can no longer loot items from players during extraction.
- Rook is now accessible to players starting from level zero.
The UESC AI faction has also seen improvements, with fixes addressing freezing bugs and incorrect enemy behavior.
Beyond these changes, dozens of other bugs have been addressed, including problems with achievements, item display, challenge progression, and overall network code stability.
