Crytek has unveiled the new “Devil’s Thicket” event for Hunt: Showdown, bringing hardcore mechanics reminiscent of Escape from Tarkov. This update introduces the new hunter, The Madness of Montresor, and a formidable monster known as the “Firebug.”
The Firebug is a new fire-breathing monster that lurks in the swamps and ravines, often found among groups of the Pledges. It unleashes fire from a distance, demanding careful tactics and precision to defeat.
During the “Devil’s Thicket” event, gameplay undergoes significant changes inspired by Escape from Tarkov. Supply points and extraction points are now hidden from the map. Players have several methods to reveal their locations:
- Finding and utilizing a Scout Map.
- Discovering points independently by approaching them, marking them from a distance, or spotting them with a spyglass.
Additionally, extraction points can be revealed by:
- Collecting a bounty.
- Banishing the boss.
- Using the Chariot Tarot card.
The game also introduces a new type of structure: “Scout Towers.” These are unique towers, and crucially, they are the only points marked on the map at the start of each mission. Players are encouraged to head to these towers, as each mission features two Scout Towers where they can find a Scout Map, weapons, and new Tarot cards, all essential for navigating and uncovering the rest of the map.
