Due to a significant surge in memory component prices, the production costs for the Ayaneo NEXT 2 portable gaming device have substantially exceeded its retail price. Under these circumstances, Ayaneo is compelled to suspend sales of this flagship handheld.
Ayaneo initially opened pre-orders for the NEXT 2 in February. The device was showcased with a 9.06-inch OLED display (2400×1504 resolution), Windows 11 operating system, an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 (or AI Max 385) processor, 32–64 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of internal storage.
At the time of the initial launch, the team was aware that memory prices were already elevated but decided to proceed with sales to avoid disappointing eager gamers.
However, after the Chinese New Year, when Ayaneo re-engaged with suppliers to confirm current memory procurement prices, they discovered that costs had increased severalfold compared to the pre-holiday period.
Consequently, the manufacturing cost of the device dramatically surpassed its projected retail price, nearly doubling the company’s initial estimates. After careful consideration, Ayaneo made the decision to temporarily suspend pre-orders for the NEXT 2.
The device has been removed from all sales channels, and users can no longer purchase the NEXT 2 on platforms like Indiegogo. Nevertheless, customers who have already placed pre-orders can rest assured that their orders will be fulfilled as planned.
This suspension does not mark the end of the NEXT 2’s lifecycle; it is merely a temporary halt. Should memory component prices return to a more reasonable level in the future, the company will consider resuming sales.
Regardless of whether the NEXT 2 becomes available for purchase again, after-sales service for the device will not be impacted. Ayaneo will prepare sufficient stock of spare parts to ensure long-term, reliable support and repair for the NEXT 2.
