At 78 years old, legendary actor Arnold Schwarzenegger is reportedly in discussions for a significant return to several of his most iconic film franchises, thrilling fans worldwide.
During a recent appearance at the Arnold Sports Festival in Ohio, Schwarzenegger revealed that 20th Century Studios is actively developing three new projects that would feature his involvement: a fresh installment in the “Predator” universe, a sequel to “Commando,” and the highly anticipated “Conan the Barbarian 3,” also known as “King Conan.”
Schwarzenegger stated that director Dan Trachtenberg, known for his work on recent “Predator” films, has approached him to reprise his role as Dutch Schaefer from the original 1987 movie. The character of Dutch recently made an appearance in the animated film “Predator: Assassin of Assassins” (2025), where he was revealed to be alive, preserved in a cryo-capsule on the Predator homeworld, Yautja Prime.

“They made another Predator, and the director [Dan Trachtenberg] is fantastic. He wants me to be in the next Predator. We’ve already discussed it. Furthermore, Fox seems to have rediscovered Arnold. They said, ‘We want you in Predator. And we also have a script for Commando 2 for you.'”
This confirms that Schwarzenegger is actively considering a return to at least two beloved action series. However, his announcements didn’t stop there.
The actor also shared that the studio has reportedly enlisted a director and writer, known for their successful collaborations on recent Tom Cruise blockbusters, to pen the script and direct “King Conan.” While not explicitly named, this description strongly points to Christopher McQuarrie, a frequent collaborator with Cruise on acclaimed films such as “Jack Reacher,” “Top Gun: Maverick,” and the latest “Mission: Impossible” installments.
It’s important to note that none of these mentioned projects have been officially announced by 20th Century Studios, and specific production timelines remain undisclosed. Nevertheless, the mere fact that these high-level discussions are underway offers considerable hope to fans that at least some of these exciting plans will eventually come to fruition on the big screen, marking a grand comeback for the action icon.
