You Can Take Superman’s Power In Fortnite Starting This Weekend

Fortnite`s superhero-themed season has been active for a month, though most powers and items have been original to the game, with Robin`s grappler and Krypto`s dog treats being notable exceptions. This is set to change dramatically on Friday, July 11, when the new Superman arrives on the Battle Royale island. He brings the “Superman`s Call” ability, which will let one player per match temporarily embody Superman and gain his impressive powers. The update also introduces new character skins inspired by the movie and a significant new point of interest (POI) on the Battle Royale island based on the Fortress of Solitude.

This mechanic is the latest iteration of a pattern Fortnite has utilized frequently this year: allowing a single player or team in each match to become a powerful, temporary `boss` of the island. This feature debuted in January with Godzilla and reappeared in May with the Star Destroyer from Star Wars. Now, the Superman version will enable one player to fly around the map, using heat vision to eliminate opponents and destroy structures.

Also starting Friday, players can unlock the new Superman skin through the battle pass. Battle pass owners can obtain the standard David Corenswet version by gaining 12 levels and the distinctive `pen & ink` cel-shaded style after reaching 24 levels. The skin includes matching cosmetic items such as a glider, a pickaxe, and capes tailored for each style. Additionally, two skins from the film, The Engineer and Mister Terrific, will be available for purchase in the in-game shop. Notably, Lex Luthor, a character many fans hoped for, was not mentioned.

Comic book enthusiasts can find something to enjoy despite Lex Luthor`s absence by visiting the Fortress of Solitude. This major new location is available in both Battle Royale and Zero Build modes and is expected to remain until the next season ends. An NPC version of Superman will reside there, offering services like healing in exchange for gold bars.
