Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut for Nintendo Switch 2 Sees Major Price Drop

The exclusive Nintendo Switch 2 version of Yakuza 0: Director`s Cut is now available for just $37, a significant reduction from its original price of $50, at both Amazon and Walmart. This represents the lowest price point observed for the title, surpassing last week`s initial discount to $40. Should these retailers run out, copies are still obtainable for $40 at Best Buy and GameStop.

Yakuza 0: Director`s Cut is among four Sega-published titles for the Switch 2 currently on offer at Amazon and other major retailers. Other discounted games include Raidou Remastered, a Shin Megami Tensei spin-off by Atlus, the acclaimed puzzle game Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S, and the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Sonic X Shadow Generations.

About Yakuza 0 Director`s Cut

For newcomers to the “Like a Dragon” or “Yakuza” franchise, Yakuza 0 serves as an ideal starting point, as it chronologically precedes other entries. The Director`s Cut specifically enhances the original 2015 experience with exclusive new scenes and a fresh English voiceover. Additionally, it introduces an online co-op mode called “Red Light Raid,” allowing players to team up globally to navigate and conquer the game`s notorious criminal underworlds.

It`s important to note that Yakuza 0, along with other Sega Switch 2 titles, utilizes a “Game-Key Card” system. This means that while a physical card is provided, the game itself requires a digital download to your Switch 2, with the card functioning primarily as an authentication key. These Game-Key Cards offer flexibility, as they are not linked to a specific Nintendo account, enabling resale or use on different Switch 2 consoles. An internet connection is only needed for the initial launch of a Game-Key Card game; subsequent play can be enjoyed offline.

Gameplay and Story Overview

Yakuza 0 is widely regarded as one of Sega`s finest releases. Set against the backdrop of Japan`s economic bubble in 1988, it serves as an origin narrative for iconic Yakuza figures Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima, detailing their transformations into the legendary “Dragon of Dojima” and “Mad Dog of Shimano.” Fundamentally, the game is a 3D beat-`em-up, distinguished by its strong narrative focus, presenting key plot developments as episodes within a compelling crime drama.

Beyond its excellent main campaign, Yakuza 0 offers extensive and captivating optional content, including numerous side stories and minigames. A notable example is “Real Estate Royale,” unlocked approximately one-third into the main story, where Kiryu assumes the role of an investor tasked with outmaneuvering and defeating the “Five Billionaires” syndicate. Similarly, Goro has his own unlockable side business, managing the “Sunshine Cabaret Club.” Both the investment and cabaret club modes skillfully blend the game`s core beat-`em-up mechanics with engaging management simulation elements. These modes are remarkably intricate and could easily stand as independent games in their own right.
