Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Update Addresses Performance, Offers Apology Freebies

Publisher 505 Games swiftly released an update for Wuchang: Fallen Feathers a day after its launch to resolve various performance issues, fix bugs, and deliver missing preorder content. As an apology for the initial problems, all players will also receive the game`s original soundtrack DLC for free.

The patch introduces a manual toggle for low latency mode, which is now no longer enabled by default. It also includes VRAM optimization, especially beneficial for GPUs with less memory. Furthermore, 505 Games addressed crashes occurring at startup immediately after the company logo and resolved stuttering experienced during finisher animations.

Players who pre-ordered either the Standard or Deluxe edition will now correctly receive their bonus content after applying the patch. The publisher advises re-logging into the game and claiming these rewards from the donation box located in Reverent Temple if they don`t appear automatically.

Beyond technical fixes, gameplay adjustments were made to the Chapter 2 landmine encounter. The number of landmines has been reduced, and their damage output adjusted, aiming to provide a more balanced and enjoyable challenge for players.

505 Games announced that a more significant, extensive patch is currently in development and expected to roll out in the next few days. Players still facing issues after this update are encouraged to contact the customer support team or consult the game`s FAQ page for further assistance.

Despite attracting over 115,000 concurrent players at its release, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers received “mostly negative” reviews on Steam, primarily due to widespread complaints about performance optimization issues.

Performance Optimizations

  • Low Latency Mode is now a manual toggle in the Options menu. It will no longer be enabled by default.
  • Supersampling resolution limits have been adjusted on specific GPU models to prevent unintended performance degradation.
  • VRAM optimization for lower-end GPUs:
    • For GPUs with 8GB or less VRAM, memory-saving optimization is now applied across all texture quality levels.
    • For GPUs with more than 8GB VRAM, this optimization applies only when texture quality is set to Low.
  • These changes improve stability and reduce crashes or stuttering caused by insufficient video memory.

Bug Fixes & Stability Improvements

  • Fixed a crash that could occur immediately after the company logo during game startup.
  • Resolved execution stutter affecting select hardware configurations during finisher animations.
