Valve Takes Care of Starfield Fans: SteamOS Beta Update Includes Steam Machine Support and Various Improvements

Valve has released the SteamOS 3.8.0 beta update, significantly enhancing system compatibility and stability. A key new feature is the long-awaited support for Steam Machines. Furthermore, the update brings improvements for several handheld gaming devices.

These enhancements include extended controller support for devices like OneXPlayer F1, GPD Win 5, GPD Win Mini, Anbernic Win600, OrangePi NEO, and Lenovo Legion Go. Full controller and firmware update support has been added for OneXPlayer X1 and Lenovo Legion Go 2, along with RGB lighting customization for the latter.

SD card reliability has been improved on various third-party handhelds, including ASUS ROG Ally, Legion Go 1, Legion Go S, Legion Go 2, and MSI Claw. GPU freezes on Phoenix APU devices, previously encountered in games like Tales of Arise and Octopath Traveler II, have also been resolved.

Finally, the update fixes issues related to incorrect game window placement (e.g., in SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide) and game crashes upon exit, which were previously observed in titles like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Starfield.
