Development on the highly anticipated game is steadily moving forward.

In a recent interview with IGN, Todd Howard, the director and executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios, touched upon the upcoming The Elder Scrolls VI. While he refrained from discussing specific game content, Howard shared crucial insights into several technical aspects of the project.

The Elder Scrolls VI will be powered by an updated version of the Creation Engine, specifically Creation Engine 3. Howard indicated that the development team has learned significant lessons from their work on Starfield, which are now being applied to enhance TES VI. These improvements are primarily focused on rendering capabilities and game loading systems.

“We’re doing a tremendous amount of work on how we load worlds and almost instantly bring them to the screen, how we deal with the scale that we typically work at, and how we manage data streams.”

Todd Howard further clarified that Creation Engine 3 is not solely centered on visual graphics. He emphasized its broader role in the game’s foundation:

“The engine is responsible for data structures, loading, character AI, saves, the platform everything runs on. Everything that makes up an engine involves a lot more than just the final frame on the screen.”

Howard also provided an encouraging update, noting that builds of TES VI are “stably running almost every day.” Developers are continually integrating new content and conducting thorough tests, indicating active progress.

As of now, a definitive release window for The Elder Scrolls VI has not been announced.
