Fans can now pre-order “The Last of Us” Season 2 Limited Edition 4K Steelbook on Amazon for just $35, a notable reduction from its original price of $47. This represents the lowest price available since pre-orders became live in late May. Given that the Season 1 Steelbook sold out quickly after its March launch, securing a copy before the September 23 release date for Season 2 is highly recommended. Notably, this 4K Blu-ray Steelbook edition is currently more affordable than the standard 4K version on Amazon.
As of now, Amazon is the exclusive retailer offering this $35 deal for the Steelbook Edition. Other retailers, such as Gruv, have it listed for $40, while Walmart maintains the full $47 price.
Limited Edition Steelbook Features
The Limited Edition Steelbook for Season 2 features captivating promotional artwork, showcasing Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) against a backdrop where the Cordyceps fungus subtly forms a moth, echoing Ellie`s iconic tattoo. Inside, the artwork depicts Ellie amidst a terrifying horde of individuals overtaken by the Cordyceps infection.
This 4K Blu-ray edition offers native 4K (2160p) resolution, enhanced with Dolby Vision and HDR10 for superior visual quality. The immersive audio experience, featuring Dolby Atmos and 7.1 lossless surround sound, promises to deliver the eerie growls of the infected and the distinctive clicks of the Clickers with unnerving clarity.
All physical releases of “The Last of Us” Season 2 include the same set of bonus features. While most of these extras were previously available on HBO Max, two brand-new exclusive featurettes are included: “Ellie`s Ultimate Revenge,” which delves into Ellie`s motivations across Season 2, and “Beneath the Surface: The Visual FX of The Last of Us,” offering an in-depth look at the show`s props, special effects, and sets.

The Series Overview
“The Last of Us” Season 2 continued HBO`s critically acclaimed and generally faithful adaptation of Naughty Dog`s video game series. Unlike Season 1, which comprised nine episodes, Season 2 consisted of seven. This season focused on a segment of “The Last of Us Part II,” primarily from Ellie`s viewpoint. Future plans for Season 3 suggest a shift in perspective, focusing on Abby, the second playable character introduced in the game.
For those new to the franchise, “The Last of Us” is set in a post-apocalyptic United States, devastated by a parasitic fungal infection that transforms humans into aggressive, flesh-eating beings. The inaugural season chronicled the journey of Joel, a seasoned survivor tasked with escorting 14-year-old Ellie from a quarantine zone, as her immunity to the Cordyceps infection potentially holds the key to a cure.
Five years after the first season, Season 2 delves into the profound consequences of Joel`s past decisions, which begin to affect both him and Ellie. A fresh conflict emerges, prompting Ellie to embark on a perilous journey of vengeance through treacherous landscapes populated by infected individuals, extremist cults, and hostile militias. While Season 2 primarily focused on Ellie`s narrative, Season 3 is anticipated to shift focus to Abby, the other significant playable character from the second game.
Although the series` main storyline largely mirrors that of the games—with some scenes being almost identical—it has also, on occasion, expanded upon character backstories not previously explored and introduced new characters within standalone episodes.
