Dark Math Games, comprised of former Disco Elysium developers, has officially announced a new title for their highly anticipated spiritual successor. Previously known as `XXX Nightshift,` a name that unfortunately evoked associations with adult content rather than a detective-RPG, the game will now be called Tangerine Antarctic. This strategic rebranding aims to better convey the game`s sophisticated mystery and narrative focus.
The name change isn`t the only significant update. Dark Math Games has revealed a shift in the game`s perspective, moving away from its initial isometric gameplay to embrace a more immersive third-person experience. The title, Tangerine Antarctic, directly refers to an exclusive, remote hotel situated in the icy Antarctic wilderness. This luxurious yet isolated establishment is set to become the central stage for a perplexing murder mystery, unfolding amidst the fury of a raging blizzard.
Designed as a single-player detective RPG, Tangerine Antarctic places a strong emphasis on player choice, ensuring the narrative dynamically adapts to every decision made. Players are encouraged to investigate the murder at their own pace, exploring clues and motives as they see fit. Furthermore, the game allows for the recruitment of a partner, who can provide unique insights and open up diverse investigative avenues, enriching the experience and aiding in the identification of the culprit(s).
To assist in their investigations, players will have access to a unique `maboul kit,` a specialized tool designed to `prepare for interrogations, confrontations, and seductions.` However, the developers provide a cryptic warning: using this kit comes with potential side effects, suggesting that `there`s always a price to pay` for its powerful, perhaps morally ambiguous, capabilities.
Currently, Tangerine Antarctic is available for wishlisting on Steam for PC. While fans eagerly await this new choice-driven detective experience from the acclaimed creators of Disco Elysium, an official release date has not yet been announced.
