“Street Fighter” Film Reboot: Release Date, Cast, and First Plot Details Unveiled

Fans of Capcom`s iconic “Street Fighter” franchise have reason to rejoice: a cinematic reboot of the beloved series is set to hit the big screens in 2026. Unlike previous film adaptations, such as the 1994 movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile, which leaned more into a “G.I. Joe” style, or “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li,” this new project from Legendary Entertainment promises a true return to the roots of the 90s arcade games.

Plot Details

The upcoming film will be set in 1993, focusing on two estranged fighters: Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo). Their paths converge once more when Chun-Li (Callina Liang) brings them together to participate in the “World Warrior Tournament.” The synopsis also hints at a “deadly conspiracy” behind this grand competition, which will almost certainly lead to a confrontation with the franchise`s primary antagonist, M. Bison.

Release Date

“Street Fighter” is scheduled for release on October 16, 2026. This marks the first film under a new three-year distribution deal with Paramount Pictures. Notably, this agreement does not impact the sequels for “Minecraft” and “Godzilla x Kong,” which will remain with Warner Bros. under previously signed deals.

Kitao Sakurai is directing the film, which is already in full production.

Full Cast List

Legendary has also unveiled the complete cast for the project, including two active WWE wrestlers, bringing a diverse group of talent to the iconic roles:
