Starfield Potentially Launching on Nintendo Switch 2, Leaks Suggest

As Xbox continues to expand its game offerings to other platforms, new information suggests that Bethesda`s critically acclaimed space RPG, Starfield, is set to join Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Nintendo`s upcoming handheld console, the Switch 2.

During the recent Gamescom Opening Night Live presentation, the Switch 2 port of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was announced for a 2026 release. According to prominent leaker NateTheHate, Starfield is also expected to arrive on the new Nintendo console in the same year.

NateTheHate`s claims extend to a PlayStation 5 release for Starfield as well, a rumor that has circulated since the game`s initial launch in 2023. A separate report from this month corroborates this, indicating a PS5 launch could happen in the spring of 2026.

While Bethesda has yet to officially confirm any multiplatform plans for Starfield beyond its current availability on Xbox and PC, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has previously voiced his intent to support the Switch 2. The release of the highly anticipated Indiana Jones game could signal the initial phase of Bethesda`s strategy for Nintendo`s new hardware.

Beyond Indiana Jones, Bethesda has a track record of bringing its titles to the original Switch, with successful ports including The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Doom Eternal, and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Furthermore, Microsoft-owned Activision has committed to bringing Call of Duty games to Nintendo platforms, although there`s no current indication of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 making its way to Switch 2.

The potential Switch 2 versions of both Indiana Jones and Starfield will be important test cases for how demanding current-generation games perform on the handheld. For context, Starfield on the lower-spec Xbox Series S offers multiple performance modes, including 30fps and 60fps options. For existing Starfield players, the prospect of a Switch 2 release might also spark hope for continued development and attention from Bethesda.
