Sony recently shared more details about the game Ghost of Yotei during its State of Play presentation. While the event primarily concentrated on gameplay mechanics and the narrative, fans of the upcoming title have something special to look forward to. Sony has now officially revealed the initial images of the limited edition PlayStation 5 bundles inspired by Ghost of Yotei.
Players will have two distinct options: the Ghost of Yotei Gold Limited Edition Bundle and the Ghost of Yotei Black Limited Edition Bundle. The Black variant will be available exclusively through the official PlayStation online store, whereas the Gold version can be purchased from other retail outlets. Both bundles are set to include a PS5 console equipped with a disc drive, a matching DualSense wireless controller, and a digital copy of Ghost of Yotei along with all applicable preorder bonuses.
The development team at Sucker Punch was responsible for designing these limited editions. They stated that the design for the Gold bundle draws inspiration from kintsugi, the traditional Japanese art form of repairing broken pottery with gold lacquer. The aesthetic for the Black bundle, conversely, is based on Sumi-e, a Japanese ink painting technique.
Jason Connell, Creative Director at Sucker Punch, commented on the design philosophy: “Our inspiration for this design came directly from a fundamental element within the game: a deep emphasis on exploration. This incorporates the hand-drawn map markers used by Atsu, a kintsugi-style effect reminiscent of her Ghost mask, and brushstrokes that evoke her Sumi-e paintings. The iconic Mount Yotei is centrally featured on the console design, tying everything together, while Atsu herself is highlighted on the DualSense controller. Every one of these components was carefully integrated into both the console and controller designs.”
For fans who already own a PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro console, the Ghost of Yotei Gold Limited Edition console covers will be available for separate purchase via the PlayStation store. The unique designs applied to the DualSense controllers will also be sold individually.
Both the limited edition console bundles, as well as the separate console covers and controller designs, are scheduled to launch concurrently with the release of the Ghost of Yotei game on October 2nd.
