Somehow, This New Game Isn’t A Dante’s Inferno Sequel

During Gamescom Opening Night Live, Jyamma Games unveiled its new souls-like action-RPG titled “La Divina Commedia.” This game, based on Dante Alighieri`s renowned “Divine Comedy,” was presented today. Despite visual resemblances to EA`s 2010 game “Dante`s Inferno,” the developers emphasize that this is an entirely new, standalone project and not a sequel.

The debut trailer showcases dynamic combat, where a warrior skillfully dodges and parries attacks from a skeletal monster. After defeating the creature, the hero proceeds to a vast lake, above which spectral gates loom.

The official “La Divina Commedia” website reveals further details about the game. Confirmed features include craftable gear, a variety of weapon classes, and procedurally generated dungeons. A particularly intriguing mechanic is “sin alignment,” where player choices will link the main character to the seven deadly sins, influencing their abilities, story events, and even the surrounding world.

This project marks the second souls-like title for the Milan-based studio Jyamma Games, following “Enotria: The Last Song,” set for release in 2024. “Enotria” also drew inspiration from Italian culture, particularly the art of commedia dell`arte.

Currently, “La Divina Commedia” is confirmed for PC release. Information regarding availability on other platforms and specific release dates is not yet available, but the official website indicates that additional platforms will be announced later.
