Having successfully navigated and conquered the challenges of Slay the Spire 2, an intriguing observation has come to light during my playthrough. A significant portion of my triumph was achieved by employing a card deck configuration and strategy that felt remarkably familiar, almost identical, to tactics I utilized nearly eight years ago in the original Slay the Spire. This experience has led me to critically evaluate the nature of this new release.
While it proudly carries the designation of a sequel, the profound sense of familiarity and the surprising efficacy of established, older meta-strategies raise a compelling question: is Slay the Spire 2 truly a groundbreaking successor, or does it function more as a highly polished remake or an extensive expansion of its predecessor? The line between genuine evolution and comfortable repetition feels particularly blurred, prompting a deeper discussion about innovation within the popular deck-building roguelike genre.
