Bandai Namco is set to launch Shadow Labyrinth, a distinctive new Metroidvania-style game starring arcade icon Pac-Man. This action-platformer, rated T for Teen by the ESRB, sees Pac-Man team up with a swordsman in a side-scrolling adventure. The game, which received generally favorable reviews with a Metacritic score of 74, is officially released on July 18. All initial purchases include the `Original Arcade Sound FX` bonus, bringing Pac-Man`s classic sounds to the new title.
The game is available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and digitally for Xbox Series X|S. Notably, physical and digital versions for Nintendo Switch include a free upgrade pack for the upcoming Switch 2 console, which can already be claimed from the Nintendo eShop.
A special Collector`s Edition, exclusive to Bandai Namco`s official store, offers additional physical collectibles such as a Shadow Box, Collector`s Box, and Art Journal, available for Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PC.
Set on a war-torn planet, this new 2D action-platformer embraces classic Metroidvania elements, emphasizing exploration, discovery of hidden secrets, and unlocking new abilities. Players assume the role of Swordsman No. 8, battling alien creatures alongside their iconic, hungry companion, Puck, known to many as Pac-Man.
Pac-Man 45th Anniversary Celebrations Extend to Special Edition Controllers
Shadow Labyrinth is released as part of Bandai Namco`s ongoing 45th-anniversary celebrations for the beloved arcade hero. To mark this milestone, Bandai has collaborated with PowerA to introduce special edition wireless controllers for Nintendo Switch and Xbox/PC.
The PowerA Enhanced Pac-Man Controller for Switch features `Lumectra` lighting technology, which dynamically illustrates moments from the classic arcade game. This controller is compatible with both the original Switch and the upcoming Switch 2.
The Pac-Man-themed PowerA Xbox controller offers advanced features, including four remappable back buttons, Hall Effect sticks and triggers, trigger locks, and three customizable profiles. Its unique lighting effects allow it to glow in the dark and exhibit a fluorescent appearance under UV light, making it a robust pro-style wireless controller.
