Roblox Introduces TikTok-Style Video Feed and Advanced AI Tools for Creators

At its Developers Conference, Roblox unveiled a significant new feature: “Roblox Moments,” a TikTok-style short video feed designed for sharing clips captured directly within the platform`s games. The company also announced the development of numerous artificial intelligence tools aimed at significantly simplifying the game creation process for developers.

The “Roblox Moments” feature is currently in beta testing, allowing for vertical videos up to 30 seconds long, a format familiar to users of TikTok or Instagram Reels. A key distinction is that all video clips are recorded directly within Roblox “experiences”—the platform`s term for user-created games and applications. While browsing the Moments feed, users will have the ability to instantly access the games featured in the videos.

Eurogamer reports that Roblox is heavily investing in new artificial intelligence tools for its creators, aiming to automate various stages of game development for solo developers and small teams. The company announced the development of 400 AI models, including tools for generating game assets, text-to-speech, speech-to-text, and automatic translation. One of the most impressive AI products showcased was “4D Objects,” a technology designed to fully automate the creation of interactive and scripted game assets from simple text prompts.

“To achieve our mission of connecting a billion people, we need creators worldwide building at a massive scale,” Roblox stated concerning its AI tool development. The company also noted that most of its top games are created by small teams of fewer than ten people. Other AI tools in development, such as text-to-speech, are designed to assist these small-scale developers, potentially replacing human voice actors for adding voiced Non-Player Characters (NPCs) to game experiences.

Recently, Roblox has faced increasing pressure from lawmakers, who accuse the platform of not doing enough to protect its user base, which largely consists of young people. In response, the platform has strengthened its safety tools, including a new plan to implement age verification for all users who utilize voice chat on Roblox.

Despite ongoing controversies, Roblox continues to show impressive user engagement, boasting over 111.8 million daily active visitors—a figure higher than Steam`s by most estimates. Furthermore, Roblox has increased its payouts to content creators, making the development of popular experiences for the platform even more appealing.
