In an unexpected turn of events, Riot Games has prematurely unveiled the latest playable character for its highly anticipated 2v2 fighting game, 2XKO. This unintentional disclosure confirms that Blitzcrank, the formidable automaton hailing from Zaun in the League of Legends universe, is set to become the ninth addition to the game`s roster.
The accidental confirmation came to light when the official Riot Games website updated its visual assets for 2XKO across various pages, including the dedicated support section. Instead of displaying artwork for one of the eight previously announced fighters, Blitzcrank`s image suddenly appeared, inadvertently publicizing his inclusion in the forthcoming title.
This marks the first significant update for the League of Legends fighting game since the Evo event held earlier this month. During Evo, Riot had already announced that a closed beta test for PC players would commence on September 9, with a console beta slated for a later date. Further amplifying the excitement, Riot has now confirmed that Blitzcrank will be available for players to experience from day one of the closed beta.
Initially revealed in 2021 under the codename “Project L,” 2XKO is structured as a tag-based 2v2 fighting game. It features a diverse cast of champions drawn from Riot`s flagship MOBA, League of Legends. Other confirmed fighters joining Blitzcrank on the 2XKO roster include popular characters from Arcane such as Jinx, Ekko, and Vi, alongside the skilled samurai Yasuo and the powerful axe-wielding knight Darius.
2XKO is planned to launch as a free-to-play title, available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 platforms. While an official release date has yet to be confirmed, players can anticipate more detailed information about Blitzcrank, which is scheduled for release on September 2.
