Following its surprising debut at last month`s Xbox Showcase, Invincible VS, the 3v3 fighting game developed by Skybound and the newly formed Quarter Up studio (comprised of seasoned fighting game developers), had been quiet on new details. This silence has now been broken with the explosive reveal of Rex Splode, the volatile Guardian of the Globe, who is officially joining the game`s combatant lineup.
Rex Splode`s debut trailer showcases several of his core combos and special attacks, all leveraging his unique power to detonate anything he touches with kinetic energy. The footage features him launching explosive projectiles, transforming into an explosive ball for multi-hit assaults, and even implanting two explosive sticks into an adversary before delivering a `polite` send-off.
Rex Splode expands the current Invincible VS roster, which already features Invincible, Atom Eve, the Viltrumite Thula, and Bulletproof. While Omni-Man was briefly seen in the initial Xbox Showcase reveal trailer, his playable status remains unconfirmed at this time.
About the Developers
Both the game and the new development studio, Quarter Up, were unveiled simultaneously by Skybound. Quarter Up was established by Mike Willette, a figure familiar to fighting game enthusiasts as both a developer and the announcer`s voice for the 2013 Killer Instinct reboot. The studio`s team comprises former developers from that Killer Instinct project, alongside talents from Activision Blizzard, Riot Games, and other notable studios.
Invincible VS is slated for a 2026 release across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms.
