Resident Evil Requiem Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2, Headlining a Thrilling Nintendo Direct Showcase

During a recent Nintendo Direct livestream, Capcom unveiled that Resident Evil Requiem, the newest installment in its renowned horror series, will make its debut on Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, 2026. This launch date will coincide with its release on other consoles and PC, ensuring all players can experience the next chapter simultaneously.

Resident Evil Requiem was first revealed at Summer Game Fest in June. This upcoming horror title takes place three decades after the infamous Raccoon City outbreak. Players will assume the role of Grace Ashcroft, an FBI agent tasked with investigating the eerie Wrenwood Hotel to uncover truths behind a series of disturbing events.

In addition to the main announcement, Capcom also confirmed that the Gold Editions of both Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village are slated for release on the Switch 2 on the same day. These special editions will bundle the core games with all their downloadable content, offering a complete experience for fans.

The Nintendo Direct presentation offered a packed hour of new announcements and updates for both the current Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Key highlights included confirmed release dates for Hades 2, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. The event concluded with the reveal of a brand-new entry in the Fire Emblem series, titled Fortune`s Weave.

The initial twenty minutes of the Direct were dedicated to celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Super Mario Bros. This celebration featured several exciting announcements for the Switch 2, including ports of both Super Mario Galaxy games, a special Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder alongside a Meetup at Bellabel Park, Mario Tennis Fever, and a new Yoshi adventure called Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. Furthermore, the official title of the next Mario film, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, was confirmed, set to hit cinemas in April 2026.
