Capcom’s iconic Resident Evil franchise marks its 30th anniversary this March, a significant milestone for fans worldwide. To commemorate the occasion, producer Jun Takeuchi extended his heartfelt gratitude to the community for their unwavering support since the very first game launched on March 22, 1996.
In a statement, Takeuchi reflected on the series’ enduring legacy and a recent release:
Today marks the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil. We want to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who have supported us throughout this journey — ever since the first game’s release on March 22, 1996. Last month, we released Resident Evil Requiem. Returning to Raccoon City, the city where it all began, we united the two ‘hearts’ of the series – horror and action – and packaged them into one game. Resident Evil Requiem has already been played by over six million players worldwide. Thank you all immensely!
Takeuchi further assured fans that Capcom remains committed to advancing the beloved horror series, promising more captivating experiences ahead.
Our team will continue to strive towards delivering even more vibrant and thrilling experiences. It would be a great honor for us if you continue this journey alongside us. Thank you for your support!
The anniversary celebrations have also reignited calls from some dedicated fans for Capcom to develop a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica.
