After its initial shutdown in November 2017, the online action RPG Marvel Heroes, which offered a ‘Diablo-like’ experience with iconic Marvel characters, has finally made a comeback. Despite a rocky start, the game improved significantly with updates. However, these efforts weren’t enough to prevent its closure when Marvel severed ties with developer Gazillion Entertainment, leading to its unexpected early ‘sunset’ two months ahead of schedule.
The game’s revival comes courtesy of a new server emulator, which has now reached version 1.0. The inaugural player-operated server, “Project Tahiti,” has already launched, with more expected to follow. A recent attempt to join showed a queue of over 1,700 players, indicating strong community interest in its return.
While accessing the public servers can still be challenging due to high demand and potential restarts, a robust single-player option is also available. Players can download a server emulator from GitHub, follow the setup guide, and enjoy the game solo, free from connectivity issues or server instability during this early phase of its resurgence.
A communal resource, often a Pastebin, is being maintained to list new player-run servers as they emerge. Additionally, an archived backup of the game’s final build is accessible for those looking to get started. The community expresses joy at seeing Marvel Heroes receive this second chance, fondly remembering it as a genuinely enjoyable and action-packed experience.
