Preorders Now Open for Hell Is Us, the Unique Exploration-Focused Action RPG

Set to launch on September 4 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Hell Is Us distinguishes itself within the action-RPG genre by focusing on deep, immersive exploration. Players must navigate its world without the aid of maps, waypoints, or quest markers, fostering a unique sense of discovery. Preorders are available for various editions, including a $60 physical standard edition for consoles and an $80 Deluxe Edition for PS5, which includes a steelbook case and additional content.

PC versions of both editions are priced $10 lower. Digital storefronts like Fanatical offer further discounts on Steam keys, with the standard edition available for $38.49 (down from $50) and the Deluxe Edition for $53.89 (reduced from $70).

Preorder Bonuses for Hell Is Us

All editions of Hell Is Us include an exclusive cosmetic item pack. The Deluxe Edition offers additional in-game items and grants three-day early access, beginning September 1.

The game is set in the early 1990s within the fictional isolated nation of Hadea. Players embody Remi, who returns to his homeland to uncover his past and locate his parents. This quest is complicated by `The Calamity,` a destructive phenomenon that has ravaged the landscape and unleashed violent creatures.

A defining characteristic of Hell Is Us is its hands-off approach, requiring players to actively engage by observing conversations, collecting clues, and independently navigating their objectives. As noted in a GameSpot preview by Dan Ryckert, `Some players will thrive on the level of player agency Hell is Us offers, while others will butt their heads against it and quit in frustration.` He added, `I`m leaning toward the former–this is a game filled with bold, confident, deliberate design decisions on the part of Rogue Factor, and it`ll be interesting to see how players react when it releases September 4.`

For those seeking alternatives to dystopian exploration and combat, other upcoming titles are also available for preorder, such as Pokemon Legends: Z-A or Bluey: The Video Game.
