Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Found Footage Trailer Reveals a Terrifying New Mega Evolution

Earlier this week, The Pokemon Company released a teaser image for Pokemon Legends: Z-A that evoked the eerie style of The Blair Witch Project. The full trailer has now been released, and while it`s not truly terrifying (except for a fleeting, unsettling moment with Espurr), it masterfully plays on the found-footage genre, revealing an entirely new Mega Evolution.

Titled “The Case of the Sweet Scent Incident,” the trailer documents two individuals exploring a deserted building, encountering a series of increasingly bizarre events. From unsettling mirrors and enigmatic purple sludge to the mysterious sweet scent and Pokemon-themed jump scares, the narrative culminates in the grand reveal of Mega Victreebel, which appears notably… massive.

Mega Victreebel`s appearance resembles a colossal, leaf-adorned water balloon that bounces as it moves. The official Pokemon Legends website provides a description: “It has so much acid that even closing its mouth tight isn’t enough to hold it in, so it contains the acid by wrapping its own vines around its throat.” This description paints a rather disturbing image.

A press release confirms that Mega Victreebel retains its Grass/Poison typing upon evolving. However, specific details such as stat changes are expected to remain unrevealed until the game`s official launch.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is scheduled for release on October 16th for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
