Pokémon GO: August 2025 Events – Raids, Spotlight Hours & More

August marks the grand finale of Pokémon GO`s “Delightful Days” season, and the mobile game is set to conclude it with an exciting array of events over the coming weeks. Trainers can look forward to several Pokémon making their debut, including Gigantamax Butterfree and Shadow Kyogre. Additionally, Origin Form Dialga and Palkia will make a rare return during a special Raid Day. The month will also feature the usual new Spotlight Hours, a fresh lineup of raid bosses, and the highly anticipated Pokémon GO Fest Max Finale event, promising an epic conclusion to the season with the arrival of Eternatus.

Below is a comprehensive guide to this month`s major Pokémon GO events.

August Raid Schedule

A new selection of raid bosses will be appearing in gyms throughout August. Legendary Pokémon Lugia and Ho-Oh will feature in five-star raids during the first half of the month, with Necrozma appearing towards the end. Mega Raids will showcase Mega forms of Ampharos, Slowbro, Pidgeot, and Salamence. Furthermore, Shadow Regirock will be a recurring presence in special Shadow Raids every weekend.

Mega Raids

  • August 4-11: Mega Ampharos

August Spotlight Hours

Pokémon GO will highlight different Pokémon each Tuesday evening from 6-7 PM local time. These Spotlight Hours offer increased wild encounters for the featured Pokémon, making it an excellent opportunity to expand your Pokédex and collect candy. Participants will also receive an additional bonus, such as double XP or Stardust from catches.

Fossil Research Day

The month kicks off with Fossil Research Day on August 2. From 2-5 PM local time, Fossil Pokémon such as Kabuto, Cranidos, Tirtouga, and Archen will appear more frequently in the wild. You`ll also have a chance to encounter the rare Tyrunt and Amaura by completing Field Research tasks during the event.

Gigantamax Butterfree Max Battle Day

Gigantamax Butterfree makes its Pokémon GO debut during a special Max Battle Day on August 3. This Gigantamax Pokémon will appear as a six-star Max Battle boss from 2-5 PM local time. Several bonuses will be active during the event hours, including Power Spots distributing eight times the usual amount of Max Particles, and the temporary increase of the Max Particle collection limit to 1,600.

Sweet Swarm

Combee and Swirlix in Pokemon GO

Combee and Swirlix will be featured in the Sweet Swarm event from August 3-6. Trainers will have the chance to catch these Pokémon by completing Timed Research tasks available on different days of the event. Completing these tasks will also grant additional rewards, such as Stardust and Pinap Berries. As an extra benefit, Lure Modules activated during the event will last for one hour and will have an increased likelihood of attracting both featured Pokémon.

Cozy Companions

Snom in Pokemon GO

Despite being summer, two new Ice-type Pokémon will debut during the Cozy Companions event, running from August 6-12. The snow worm Snom is among several Pokémon that may hatch from 7 km eggs. To evolve Snom into Frosmoth, you`ll need to earn 10 hearts with Snom as your buddy and use 400 Snom candy.

Other Pokémon like Galarian Farfetch`d and Charcadet will also hatch from 7 km eggs, while Abra, Alolan Geodude, and Karrablast will appear more frequently in the wild. New Field and Timed Research tasks will provide more opportunities to encounter the featured Pokémon.

Pokémon GO will host another Hatch Day event on August 9, focusing on the adorable Munchlax. From 11 AM to 5 PM local time, Munchlax will hatch more frequently from 2 km eggs, with an increased chance of hatching a shiny variant. Event-themed Timed Research tasks will also be available, rewarding an Incubator and 5,000 XP.

Ultra Unlock: Origin Raid Day

Origin Form Dialga and Palkia will return for a special Raid Day on August 10. These two legendary Pokémon will appear as five-star raid bosses from 11 AM to 5 PM local time, with an increased chance of encountering their shiny versions.

Delightful Days: Taken Over

Team GO Rocket is set to crash the party during the Delightful Days: Taken Over event, from August 11-17. Throughout this period, Team GO Rocket grunts will appear more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons, commanding a fresh batch of Shadow Pokémon, including Shadow Staryu, Shadow Fletchling, and Shadow Grubbin.

Furthermore, Shadow Pokémon will be featured in various raids, notably the debut of Shadow Kyogre. A new Special Research story will also unfold, culminating in a battle with Giovanni, offering the chance to rescue Shadow Giratina upon his defeat.

Coinciding with the 2025 Pokémon World Championships, Pokémon GO will host a GO Battle Weekend from August 15-17. More details will likely be announced soon.

Shadow Raid Weekend

In addition to the GO Battle Weekend, a dedicated Shadow Raid Weekend will take place from August 16-17 during the Pokémon World Championships period.

Dark Skies

A “Dark Skies” event is scheduled for August 18-23. Further details regarding this event will be revealed later in the month.

Pokémon GO Fest 2025: Max Finale

The highly anticipated Pokémon GO Fest 2025 will culminate with its Max Finale event on August 23-24, marking the grand conclusion of this year`s festival.

Sunkissed Shores

Pokémon GO will feature one final summer-themed event, “Sunkissed Shores,” from August 25-31. More information will be announced closer to the event date.

Rookidee Community Day

This month`s Community Day is scheduled for August 30 and will star the bird Pokémon, Rookidee, offering trainers an excellent opportunity to catch many and evolve them.

Mega Raid Day

Pokémon GO will close out the month with a Mega Raid Day on August 31. Further details on featured Mega Pokémon and bonuses will be announced later in August.
