Player dissatisfaction has significantly intensified following the discovery of images suspected to be generated by artificial intelligence within the upcoming game, Crimson Desert. A particular source of outrage is the striking absence of any mention regarding AI content usage on the game’s official Steam page, despite platform requirements.
Users have actively started sharing examples of such images, highlighting characteristic errors often seen in neural network outputs. One prominent instance, widely circulated among the community, depicts a “historical” painting featuring noticeably distorted faces and anatomically impossible details, such as a peculiar fusion of human and equine forms. Players assert that this is not an isolated incident, with several similar findings already circulating online.

The criticism is further amplified by the fact that, since 2024, Steam has required developers to disclose information about the use of generative AI in their games. However, the responsibility for adhering to these guidelines lies directly with the game studios themselves, leading to questions about transparency from Crimson Desert’s developers.
