Plants vs. Zombies Replanted: A Classic Remaster Blooms This October

EA has officially announced Plants vs. Zombies Replanted, a remastered edition of the beloved tower-defense game, during a recent Nintendo Direct presentation. This updated version, set to arrive on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 systems, promises enhanced high-definition visuals and introduces a new local co-op gameplay mode, allowing friends to defend their lawns together.

According to EA, Replanted aims to deliver “the same charm, chaos, and sun-powered defense” that players have come to know and love. The core gameplay remains, tasking players with strategically placing iconic garden defenders like Peashooters and Cob Cannons on a backyard grid to fend off relentless waves of invading zombies. Fans will also be pleased to know that Crazy Dave makes a return, offering his quirky upgrades to bolster your defenses. A press release from EA further elaborates that the game will feature new levels, fresh twists, and allow players to explore 15 years of franchise history within the game.

The original Plants vs. Zombies first captivated audiences upon its PC launch in 2009, quickly expanding its reach to platforms like the iPhone and Xbox 360 in 2010, among many others. Its immense popularity laid the groundwork for a successful franchise, spawning various spin-off titles, most notably the action-shooter series Garden Warfare.

Plants vs. Zombies Replanted is scheduled to launch on October 23. Pre-orders are now open, with the game priced at $20. In addition to Nintendo Switch platforms, EA confirms the game will also be available across PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, making it accessible to a wide audience of new and returning players.
