Path of Exile 2’s “The Third Edict” Introduces Highly Anticipated In-Game Market Browser

The upcoming “The Third Edict” update for Path of Exile 2 is set to introduce a new act, region, and various content. However, it`s the groundbreaking asynchronous trading system that has truly captured the interest of players. Grinding Gear Games (GGG) recently offered a detailed look at the system`s new in-game market browser, just days before the update`s official release.

GGG explained that while the in-game trade browser wasn`t ready for its initial content reveal for “The Third Edict,” it is now fully prepared. This new market browser functions similarly to PoE 2`s official trade website, allowing players to efficiently search for desired items within the game`s player-driven economy. A key innovation is the asynchronous trade system, which removes the requirement for sellers to be online for a transaction to occur; buyers can now purchase items directly from a seller`s Hideout.

This seemingly straightforward feature represents a significant quality-of-life improvement for Path of Exile 2 players, transforming what was previously a complex, multi-step trading process into a much simpler task. Furthermore, if its integration into PoE 2 proves successful, the asynchronous trade system is also slated for future implementation in the original Path of Exile.

Comprehensive Quality-of-Life Enhancements

Overall, “The Third Edict” update is packed with a multitude of quality-of-life changes. Game director Johnathan Rogers affirmed in a Q&A that GGG`s objective is to “take a good crack at solving every problem people are currently unhappy about.” Beyond the trading innovations, the update includes substantial additions such as:

  • The introduction of Act IV
  • New endgame content
  • A new sprint ability
  • PoE 2`s inaugural league
  • And many other improvements.

Despite the scope of this massive update, Path of Exile 2 is not expected to exit early access or transition to a free-to-play model anytime soon. Developers have indicated that a full release in 2025 appears unlikely, with its continued early access status dependent on the game`s overall development and current state.

The “The Third Edict” update is scheduled for release on August 29th. To celebrate its launch, PoE 2 will host a free access weekend from August 29th to September 1st, allowing more players to experience the new content firsthand.
