In 2020, Forever Entertainment launched a remake of Sega`s iconic Panzer Dragoon for modern platforms. Now, Forever Entertainment, in collaboration with developers MegaPixel Studio and Storm Trident, is preparing a remake of Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei, which is rumored to be arriving much sooner than anticipated.
Gematsu reported that the public debut of Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei: Remake will take place at the Rainy Frog booth during the Tokyo Game Show 2025, scheduled from September 25-28. Although the publisher has not yet announced an exact release date, it is confirmed that the game will be available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
A Blast from the Past, Reimagined
The original Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei, released in 1996 for the Sega Saturn, served as a prequel to the first installment. Players assumed the role of the young Jaen Jaque Lundi, who, defying convention, raised and trained a dragon named Lagi. This dragon functioned as both the player`s mode of transport and primary weapon. Together, Lagi and Jaen had to confront hordes of deadly adversaries and uncover the secrets of lost civilizations.
Modern Enhancements for a Classic Rail Shooter
Similar to its predecessor, the Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei remake will be a rail shooter. However, it will feature several modern enhancements, including branching paths and an evolution system for Lagi`s abilities that will depend on the player`s performance and play style. Furthermore, after completing the main campaign, players will be able to utilize a “berserk attack” and replay mission variants.
Players who purchase Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei: Remake will have the option to choose between classic and modern control schemes. The game will also boast updated graphics and a remastered soundtrack, which will be available alongside the original musical score.
