A recent adjustment to Steam`s review display system, which now prioritizes language-specific ratings, has significantly benefited Palworld. The game`s English-language reviews now proudly show an `Overwhelmingly Positive` rating.
Since its initial public appearance, Palworld has been at the center of controversy, with some critics alleging it to be a direct copy of Pokémon. This sentiment was echoed by Nintendo, leading to a patent infringement lawsuit against developer Pocketpair. Despite these challenges, the game has maintained immense popularity, attracting a massive player base within its debut month.
Previously, Palworld held a `Very Positive` overall rating on Steam. However, the new review display system has elevated its English-specific rating to the highly sought-after `Overwhelmingly Positive` status. John `Bucky` Buckley, Pocketpair`s communications director, celebrated this achievement on X, clarifying that while Palworld`s ratings are generally high across all languages, they are `just higher in English.`
An analysis of Palworld`s reviews by language reveals that English accounts for the largest volume, averaging an `Overwhelmingly Positive` score. Simplified Chinese reviews come in second, rated `Very Positive,` which likely contributed to lowering the overall average under the old system. Combined, English and Chinese reviews represent over half of Palworld`s total feedback, with all other languages also showing `Very Positive` or `Overwhelmingly Positive` scores.
Palworld is currently in its second year of early access and continues to receive substantial updates. Its most recent major update featured a crossover event with Terraria, and Pocketpair has also modified several core game systems in response to Nintendo`s ongoing legal action.
