Launched just over two months ago, the Nintendo Switch 2 is demonstrating impressive results. In the seven weeks since its debut, by June 30, 6 million consoles had been sold globally, setting several new records according to Nintendo`s Q1 financial results.
The hybrid console has proven to be highly sought after, surpassing Nintendo`s initial expectations. The company still anticipates selling 15 million Switch 2 units by March 2026, the end of its current financial year. Meanwhile, sales of the original Switch reached 0.98 million during the same period, bringing its total lifetime sales to 153.10 million units.

“Currently, demand for Nintendo Switch 2 is exceeding supply in many countries, and we regret the inconvenience this is causing our consumers,” Nintendo stated. “We will continue to strengthen our production and supply systems to deliver as much Nintendo Switch 2 hardware as possible.”
The gaming sector is also seeing success, with software sales reaching 8.67 million units. Mario Kart World accounted for the majority of these sales, with 5.63 million units sold, which is unsurprising given its availability as part of a console bundle.
The Switch 2 is set to receive even more exciting titles in the near future, including exclusives like Drag X Drive, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Nintendo also held a Direct presentation this week, focusing on games from third-party developers. While there weren`t many major surprises, several interesting projects were announced: Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, Octopath Traveler 0, and Borderlands 4.
