During the September Nintendo Direct, alongside updates on upcoming Switch 2 games, Nintendo unveiled an unexpected new product: a talking flower available for purchase. This physical item draws inspiration from the charming talking flowers featured in the Super Mario Bros. Wonder game.
The flower can spontaneously utter phrases such as, “We kinda look alike, huh?” Nintendo`s Yoshiaki Koizumi showcased the product during the presentation. It`s important to note that the flower is not interactive like a smart assistant (e.g., Amazon Alexa); it simply speaks. Koizumi stated, “These talking flowers can make everyday life a little more fun.”

The talking flowers are set to be released in Spring 2026, with pricing yet to be announced. Super Mario Bros. Wonder and its DLC, Meetup in Bellabel Park, are also slated for a Spring 2026 launch on Switch 2.
While the talking flower isn`t available yet, another plant-themed Nintendo product, the Piranha Plant camera for Switch 2, is already on the market for fans looking for unique collectibles.
The September Nintendo Direct also featured other significant announcements, including the anticipated release date for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, new Resident Evil ports, and the intriguing return of the Virtual Boy as a $100 physical item. New Amiibo figures were also revealed, highlighting Nintendo`s continued strategy of expanding its range of physical merchandise beyond just video games.
