Nintendo Direct: New Games, Amiibo, and Console Bundles Revealed

The recent hour-long Nintendo Direct presentation delivered a host of thrilling announcements, featuring fresh reveals such as the Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 collection, alongside confirmed release dates for highly anticipated titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Nintendo has outlined a busy two-month release schedule, with six significant game launches planned. This period begins with the Mario Galaxy collection on October 2 and concludes with Metroid Prime 4 on December 4. In between these major releases, fans can look forward to Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and Kirby Air Riders. Additionally, the Direct showcased a diverse selection of third-party games, including the timed-exclusive Hades II, published by Nintendo itself.

Nintendo also unveiled seven new Amiibo figures: three designed for Metroid Prime 4, two for Kirby Air Riders, and two inspired by Super Mario Galaxy. Beyond the figures, Metroid and Mario franchises are expanding their lore with upcoming books this fall: Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective and Rosalina`s Storybook.

We`ve compiled a comprehensive list of all the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 (and original Switch) games and accessories showcased during the Nintendo Direct that are now available for preorder. This list also includes existing Nintendo-published games and first-party accessories for the Switch 2. For those yet to acquire Nintendo`s new console, Amazon initiated preorders for the Switch 2 Pokemon Legends: Z-A Bundle on September 12, marking the first time the console could be purchased directly without additional steps. However, acquiring the Mario Kart World Bundle or a standalone console from Amazon still requires requesting an invitation.

The $80 price point of Mario Kart World initially led many Nintendo enthusiasts to anticipate that this would be the standard cost for Switch 2 exclusive titles. However, this has not proven to be the case, at least for now. Most other popular Switch 2 games, including Metroid Prime 4, Hyrule Warriors, and Kirby Air Riders, are priced at $70. The original Switch versions of Pokemon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are set at $60. A notable exception is the Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 collection, which, despite being an original Switch physical edition, carries a $70 price tag. This collection does, however, offer a complimentary upgrade pack for the Switch 2.

Note: Some titles listed below, such as Dragon Quest VII Reimagined and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, are not exclusive to Switch 1/2 but were featured in the September Nintendo Direct. Hades II, while a timed console exclusive published by Nintendo, will also be accessible on PC at its launch.

The Metroid Prime 4 Amiibo collection features a trio of figures with varying release dates and prices. The substantial Samus & Vi-O-La motorcycle figure, priced at $40, will launch on November 6 alongside the new $30 Samus Aran Amiibo. A Sylux Amiibo is slated for release concurrently with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. For Kirby Air Riders fans, two Amiibo figures are available at $50 each, making them the most expensive Amiibo to date. This pricing is understandable, given that the Warp Star and Winged Star Machines, as depicted, are separate figures, functioning more like double packs. Super Mario Galaxy enthusiasts will need to wait until April 2026 to add the new Mario and Rosalina Amiibo figures to their collection, each priced at $40. These figures feature more intricate character stands than typically seen with Amiibo.
