Recent indications strongly suggest that Nintendo is preparing to host its next Direct presentation very soon. A credible leaker, known as NateTheHate2, has reaffirmed earlier reports, confirming that a Nintendo Direct is indeed scheduled for September.
Regarding the exact timing, NateTheHate2 predicts the event will occur during the second week of September, specifically on either September 11 or 12. This aligns with previous speculation pointing to September 12, a date notably just one day shy of the 40th anniversary of the original 1985 release of Super Mario Bros.
As for potential announcements, the leaker mentioned the possibility of the Direct serving as the platform for unveiling the rumored Red Dead Redemption II port for the Nintendo Switch 2. NateTheHate2 clarified, “It depends on whether Nintendo successfully negotiated with Rockstar. Regardless of the announcement venue, RDR2 is expected to arrive on Switch 2.”
The most recent Nintendo Direct, held on August 19, was a substantial broadcast dedicated solely to Kirby: Air Riders.
Historically, Nintendo has hosted a September Direct in eight out of the last nine years. Therefore, the absence of such an event this upcoming September would be more surprising than its occurrence.
Should this rumored Nintendo Direct materialize, it would mark the second significant platform-holder broadcast in September, following the PlayStation State of Play event already confirmed for September 3.
