Next Pokemon TCG Pocket Expansion Introduces 200 New Cards, Including Johto Starters

The upcoming “Wisdom of Sea and Sky” expansion for Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, set to release on July 29, will introduce a substantial collection of 200 new cards. This exciting update will feature the beloved Johto region starter Pokémon: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile, alongside the iconic legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh and Lugia.

According to an announcement on the official Pokemon website, the update for Pokemon TCG Pocket will go live at 11 PM PT on July 29, which translates to 2 AM ET on July 30. The expansion will also showcase other new Pokémon, such as Pichu and Cleffa, and notable Johto trainers like Lyra and Silver.

This new “Wisdom of Sea and Sky” expansion will significantly overhaul the trading mechanics within Pokemon TCG Pocket. A major change involves the discontinuation of Trade Tokens, which will be replaced by Shinedust as the new currency for engaging in trades. Furthermore, players will gain the convenient ability to create a wishlist of up to 20 desired cards they would like to trade for with this upcoming update.

This latest content addition follows a consistent release schedule for the game, with the “Eevee Grove” expansion having arrived last month, and the “Extradimensional Crisis” expansion preceding it in May.

In other recent Pokemon news, a “Pokemon Presents” livestream earlier this week announced the upcoming “PokePark Kanto” theme park, scheduled to open next year. The event also revealed a new trailer for “Pokemon Legends: Z-A,” which highlighted the residents of Lumiose City.
