Capcom recently unveiled a fresh trailer for Resident Evil Requiem during Gamescom Opening Night Live, offering a first look at the enigmatic origins of its main character, Grace Ashcroft. The footage also reintroduced Grace`s mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, a journalist who appeared in the 2003 title Resident Evil Outbreak.
The trailer begins with Grace and Alyssa in a hotel room, where Grace receives a mysterious phone call. A man on the other end asks for her, then immediately hangs up. Moments later, the hotel is plunged into darkness, marking the start of a terrifying turn of events.
As the two women search for answers, they encounter the hotel manager. Mid-apology for the power outage, he is brutally assaulted by a mysterious, hooded figure with pale, almost undead-like skin, reminiscent of the zealots from Resident Evil 4, using a plastic bag. This shocking incident forces the Ashcrofts to flee for their lives. The scene escalates as Grace, walking ahead of her mother, turns to speak and lets out a blood-curdling scream, concluding the trailer on a chilling note.
This latest footage provides further details on Grace, who was the playable character in a hands-on preview when Resident Evil Requiem was initially announced in June. The game`s reveal trailer depicted Grace as an FBI analyst years after her mother`s demise, and this new trailer effectively fills in some of those chronological gaps.
The Gamescom Opening Night Live event also showcased a multitude of other announcements and updates. Notable reveals included new footage for The Outer Worlds 2, Ghost of Yotei, and Silent Hill F. Additionally, several new titles were officially announced, such as Lords of the Fallen 2, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and Black Myth: Zhong Kui, which serves as an anticipated follow-up to Game Science’s Black Myth: Wukong.
Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled to launch on February 27, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms.
