New Donkey Kong Switch Controller Features Unique Lenticular Artwork

Donkey Kong Bananza, released today, is already receiving critical acclaim. To complement this potential Game of the Year contender, the Turtle Beach Rematch Wireless Pro Controller: Donkey Kong Reveal edition is now available for pre-order.

Following Turtle Beach`s acquisition of PDP last year, this controller is functionally identical to the PDP Rematch series, simply re-branded. Set to release on October 12, its popularity suggests that securing a pre-order is advisable, especially since payment isn`t processed until shipment.

This officially licensed Nintendo controller is compatible with both the original Switch and Switch 2, offering up to 40 hours of battery life, motion control support, and two customizable back buttons, all within an ergonomic design for prolonged comfort. It`s worth noting the absence of a dedicated C button for GameChat functionality.

While the Rematch controller boasts solid features and build quality, its standout appeal lies in its unique visual design, potentially overshadowing other controllers in its price range.

Adorned in green and black with red accents, the controller showcases Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong amidst a vibrant jungle backdrop. Its red back buttons and green triggers ensure a distinctive appearance. A notable feature is its lenticular artwork, which subtly shifts and reveals new details as the controller is moved, setting it apart from conventional gamepads.

It`s important to mention that other Super Mario-themed Rematch controllers are already available, including the glow-in-the-dark `Invincible Mario` and `Super Mario Super Star` Turtle Beach branded models released earlier this year. Older PDP Rematch editions, sharing the same core functionalities, are also still on the market.

Turtle Beach and PDP Rematch Controllers for Switch 1/2

  • Invincible Mario – $60
  • Super Mario Super Star – $59.59
  • Grand Prix Mario – $60
  • Bowser – $60
  • Boo – $53
  • Super Mario Icon – $39.90

Additionally, Nintendo`s official Switch 2 Pro Controller, which includes the C button absent on the Rematch Wireless Pro, is now available for $84, slightly below its MSRP.

Another option is the forthcoming 8BitDo Pro 3 Bluetooth Gamepad, an evolution of the acclaimed retro-style Pro 2. While visually similar, the Pro 3 incorporates TMR sticks, trigger locks, and four remappable buttons (up from two), marking a significant improvement akin to the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth`s impact earlier this year. Notably, the Ultimate 2 Bluetooth shares a form factor with the Switch 2 Pro Controller, while the Pro 3 features PlayStation-style analog stick placement.
